In Progress
A woman jumps from a bridge — but instead of falling to her death, she falls through. A surreal fantasy of suicide, threshold, and the alternate dimension that catches her on the other side.
In Progress
A psychologist caught getting high by a patient is given a choice: lose her license, or attend a wilderness retreat for six months. She doesn't know the cult on the other end has been waiting for their stolen prophet her whole life.
In Progress
An epic in the vein of The Way of Kings. Across the lawless borderlands, an outlaw company rides against the Crown to smuggle hunted Hearers through dust, blood, and bell-iron — until a young rider hears her own captive duo calling from beyond the thorned frontier.
In Progress
Odette has survived five years in the criminal grey by building a life with no weak points — until a Russian vor decides she belongs to him, and the man sent to bring her to heel becomes the first crack in the architecture she cannot afford to lose.
— A Note from the Author —
Hi! I'm Wren — a disabled and queer writer based in Aotearoa New Zealand. I write literary fantasy, gothic fiction, and horror that lives in the emotional and psychological edges of monstrosity, grief, and divinity. My stories tend to centre queer lives and feminine rage, using speculative frameworks to wrestle with real-world systems of violence.
I've been writing seriously for over a decade now — a path shaped, in no small part, by chronic illness. My prose is lyrical and emotionally driven, drawn from the well of writers like Anne Rice and Brandon Sanderson, and from the music of Fleetwood Mac, A-ha, Bilmuri, and Paramore.
My most recently completed manuscript is Mariota, a gothic literary fantasy currently out on submission. Whatever I'm drafting next will almost certainly involve a woman who shouldn't be loved and is anyway.
When I'm not writing, you'll usually find me listening to music, daydreaming about cowboys, or crying over both at once. I'm an Aries — make of that what you will.
